George D. Potter, is the author of 13 documentary films and 6 published books: Lehi In the Wilderness (Endorsed by LDS scholar Hugh Nibley); The Voyages of the Book of Mormon; Wise Men of Bountiful; Nephi In the Promised Land, 10 More Amazing Discoveries, and The White Bedouin. George Potter has presented his discoveries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Chaplains Conferences), the Ensign Magazine, BYU and countless LDS stakes and wards. While living in Saudi Arabia for 27 years he traveled extensively exploring Lehi’s Trail. He is credited for discovering candidates for Book of Mormon sites:  the Valley of Lemuel, Shazer, Most Fertile Parts, Bountiful and Nephi’s Harbor.

George Potter is a CPA by profession and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of California, Berkeley). He is married to Cristina Potter also a CPA, MBA from Newcastle College, UK,  owner-operator of a travel agency for 19 years, and a Philippines Travel Agency Association member.

Day 1 – September 19 Thursday

Arrive in Salalah. A bus will be waiting to take us to the hotel in Rotana Beach Resort. On the way to the hotel we will stop at one of the many fruit stands where you can enjoy a fresh coconut drink or taste a variety of tropical fruits.  Spend the day relaxing on the Indian Ocean beach. Stop for a photo-shoot in the hills above Khor Rori. Evening presentation with George Potter on Bountiful.

Day 2 - September 20 Friday


After buffet breakfast meeting in hotel for daily briefing by George, board bus and visit the private museum of local historian and archaeologist Ali Shihir (if available).  Ali will show you how Frankincense and myrrh are harvested, his research on southern Arabia ancient languages, explain how he grew up in Wadi Darbat, show you his collection of photographs of rock art of ancient ships in Wadi Darbat, explain how bronze plates with writing on them were discovered at Khor Rori, show you his genealogy dating back to the brother of Biblical Jared – Ophir, show you maps of Ophir (wadi Darbat and Khor Rori), and the mountain known by locals as the mountain of prayer. Return briefly to hotel to refresh and possibly lunch.  Afternoon – visit the waterfalls and amazing National Park of Wadi Darbat including three of the five lakes and the rock art of ancient ships. Evening presentation by George Potter – Khor Rori – Nephi’s Harbor.

Day 3 – September 21 Saturday

9:00 AM Board the bus to Taqah and see the orchards next to Khor Rori.  Proceed to ancient flint quarry and see ore deposits in hills above the flint quarry. Return to hotel for quick refresher stop. Proceed to UNESCO site, the ancient Frankincense Harbor at Khor Rori. Visit Sumhuram ruins at the harbor, explore ramps were ancient ships were built  and launched into the water, the visitors center and museum, the temple at Khor Rori and take photographs at the replica ships. Leave Khor Rori and visit the Frankincense Museum and Maritime Museum in Salalah – see ancient bronze plates from Khor Rori, a model of a Jaredite-era ship and other artifacts. Evening Presentation by George Potter – What is the possible connection between Khor Rori and the Jaredites.

Day 4 – September 22 Sunday

9:00 AM Board the bus for the fishing village of Merbat. We will then drive to the top of Mount Samban and get breathtaking views of Salalah coastal plain.  Visit sink hole on route back to Khor Rori. Return to Hotel for lunch and refreshments – and change into swim wear if desired. Return to Khor Rori and explore the impressive cliffs where Nephi’s brothers tried to throw him into the depths of the sea. Collect shells, swim, or simply contemplate what it would have been like for Nephi and his family to have sailed out of the harbor’s natural breakwater and embark on their long and dangerous voyage to the Promised Land.  Return to hotel – Optional evening to trip to traditional market to purchase Frankincense and Myrrh. Day 5 -- September 23 Monday  

9:00 Briefing by George on why the Prophet Job probably lived in Salalah. Travel to the blow hole at Mughsayl and see wadi Mughsayl an alternative site proposed for Nephi’s harbor. Travel up hills above Salalah to the Prophet Job’s Tomb. Return to hotel to refresh, and then on to Wadi Darbat for a traditional Omani dinner under huge tree and next to a lake.  Oman only option ends with return to hotel and bus to airport.

Those continuing to Jordan:

Spend evening as free time to enjoy the beautiful beach resort or to return to city of Salalah.

Day 6 –September 24  Tuesday

Check out of hotel and board bus to the Salalah Airport at 10:00 AM.  Arrive in Amman Jordan at 5:30 PM. Upon your arrival, our airport representative will await you with a name sign and bring you to your driver & your English speaking tour guide. Then transfer about 50 minutes to your Hotel; check in. Evening presentation on the Lehi’s Trail by George Potter.


Day 7 – September 25 Wednesday

Amman Hotel - Madaba – Mt. Nebo - Baptism site - Dead Sea (swimming) – (Madaba for dinner)

Follow the route Lehi like took to flee Jerusalem to reach the Frankincense trail. After breakfast, drive along the Kings' Highway to the 6th Century St George Church in Madaba to see the oldest known mosaic map of the Holy Lands. A short drive brings us to Mt Nebo where God permitted Moses a view of the Promised Land before he died. From the lookout see Jericho and the Dead Sea. Descend to the Rift Valley and travel to Bethany Beyond the Jordan. It is here that Jesus was baptized and where Joshua led the children of Israel into the Promised Land. Drive to the Dead Sea for swimming at 420m below sea level the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth. Float in the therapeutic waters or indulge in a spa treatment at the hotel's facilities (extra cost). Then drive back to Madaba for a traditional Jordanian dinner, and return to your hotel in Amman.


Day 8 – September 26 Thursday

Amman Hotel – Full day in Petra – Wadi Rum (2hr. Jeep tour) – 5 star camping in the wilderness
The latest hotel check out early, after breakfast in your hotel; your driver and the guide pick you up from your hotel to head to the red Rose city of Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. The freeway to Petra follows the ancient route called “The Way of the Wilderness,” the probable route Lehi took to the Valley of Lemuel. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. With the guide pass the canyon, the so called Siq, to see the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Then make your own way back to the visitor center where your driver awaits you, and then head to southern Jordan and the beautiful desert valley of Wadi Rum, made famous by T E Lawrence. Wadi Rum is a protected area of dramatic desert wilderness and you will see it all in a 2 hour 4WD Jeep Tour. Before your tour begins, freshen up at your desert campsite then climb into the back of your jeep for an exciting tour through narrow canyons and across the vast tracks of red sand. Along the way see ancient inscriptions, extraordinarily colored sand dunes and majestic mountains before ending the tour back at your desert campsite. You will have free time to hike on your own to experience the grandeur and silence of this magnificent desert. Watch the sun set before enjoying a traditional Jordanian dinner (zarb) under the stars.  We hope this will give you taste of what Lehi and his family experienced in the wilderness. Day 9 – September 27 Friday

Wadi Rum – Gulf of Aqaba and a look into Saudi Arabia – Return & stop to Karak Castle – Amman Hotel

After breakfast, leave the desert behind and travel to Aqaba on the Red Sea; drive through to the Gulf of Aqaba and look into the Saudi Arabia view, and then return back on the way to Amman and stop at the Karak Castle to explore the Crusader Castle of Karak Castle, built in 1132/34 by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem; and then continue to drive to Amman to your hotel for your overnight stay. Day 10 September 28 Saturday

Amman Hotel – Jerash – Roman Amphitheater – Citadel Hotel

This morning we head to Jerash, one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. With an English speaking guide, enter through Hadrian's Arch for a tour. Continue exploring on your own before returning to the entrance gates to meet your driver, and return back to Amman to start a Amman City including downtown Amman and visiting the Citadel and the Roman Theatre then transfer to your hotel in Amman for overnight.


Day 11 – September 29 Sunday

Amman Hotel – Amman airport for flight departure

The hotel latest check out at 12:00 noon, depends to your departure, transfer to airport Amman to say farewell and board your flight. Optional tours to Jerusalem can be arranged for you.
